I’ve read on another website that when buying a pressure washer, the speed of the pump on your machine is an important issue that you need to consider. Depending on how long and how often you intend to be using your pressure washer for, will ultimately affect your decision on which machine to buy.

If you intend to use your pressure washer for long periods you want a machine that ideally has a pump speed of less than 1450rpm. If however you are only going to be using it infrequently and for short periods then a pump with a speed higher than this will be ok.

Pressure washers with pumps that work at a lower rpm are less likely to overheat and can draw water into themselves better. My petrol-driven pressure washer has a low speed pump because it’s driven by a reduction gearbox.
